Hike For Eggs Beginner Guide: Core Loop, Strength, and Upgrades
Hike For Eggs progresses by stealing eggs from nests, running back to your base pen to hatch pets for Cash, and training Strength on the treadmill. Better hiking poles and Rebirth multipliers allow you to reach higher trail stages.

The Core Gameplay Loop
Every run in the game follows five sequential actions. First, walk up the mountain trail to find an animal nest. Next, learn how to steal eggs by tapping the nest while the parent sleeps. Sprint back down to your base pen before the guardian wakes up and attacks. Once you arrive at base, tap inside the pen to place the egg, then wait for the hatch timer to complete.
Placing hatched pets in your pen generates Cash every second. This income funds equipment and upgrades needed to push higher up the mountain. Keep an eye on the on-screen timers: the Egg Reset countdown determines when nests refresh across the trail, while the separate STORM countdown triggers an immediate drop of fresh eggs.
Building Strength and Treadmill Training
Mountain stages require specific Strength thresholds before you can climb comfortably. Stage 2, for example, displays a recommended Strength requirement of 2.4K. Attempting stages with insufficient Strength causes your character to move slowly, allowing animal parents to catch up and knock away your egg.
Your primary training station is the treadmill placed in front of your base. Running on the treadmill grants Strength per second, which increases your running speed and climbing rate. You can invest Cash into treadmill upgrades to increase the rate of Strength gained per second. During training sessions, 2x multiplier prompts appear on screen; tapping these prompts applies temporary boosts to your active stat gains.
Hiking Pole Progression
Hiking poles provide flat Strength increases that boost your total stats alongside treadmill training. Starter poles come equipped by default and add +1 Strength. Upgrading to Driftwood poles costs $500 Cash and raises the bonus to +3 Strength. Further upgrades scale up in price, such as Rusty poles costing $11.0K Cash for +8 Strength.
| Equipment Option | Practical Role | Cost and Benefit |
|---|---|---|
| Starter Poles | Completing initial tutorial runs on Stage 1 | Free starting gear granting +1 Strength |
| Driftwood Poles | Early mountain climbing before entering Stage 2 | Costs $500 Cash and adds +3 Strength |
| Rusty Poles | Meeting the 2.4K recommended stat bar for Stage 2 | Costs $11.0K Cash and adds +8 Strength |
| Starter Pack Poles | Skipping early pole farming tiers | Costs 29 Robux for Jade poles and $1M Cash |
| Galaxy Poles | Passive stat scaling across all stages | Costs 799 Robux for 4x strength of best owned poles |
Because higher pole tiers cost roughly 20 times more than preceding tiers while providing smaller proportional stat jumps, purchase new hiking poles primarily when trail progression stalls. The bottom bar of the game screen shows the exact name and price of the next tier available to your character.
Rebirth Requirements and Stat Resets
Reaching level 25 unlocks the option to complete your first Rebirth. Committing to a Rebirth resets your current Strength stat and player level back to the beginning. However, your Cash reserves, owned poles, purchased shop upgrades, cash multipliers, and existing pets stay intact.
Committing to the reset rewards immediate permanent account boosts. Completing the level 25 reset increases your Strength multiplier from x1.5 to x1.75, increases your pet Cash multiplier from x1.2 to x1.6, and raises your player level cap from 25 to 50. Players wanting a complete breakdown of higher reset milestones can consult the rebirth guide before resetting their current speed.
Mountain Stages and Automation
The mountain contains all 18 stages, beginning with early animals like the Goat in the Foothills and extending to high-tier nests like the Dragon on Genesis Summit. Each ascending area contains higher base rewards and eggs with longer hatch times, ranging from common animals to Mythic and Divine rarities.
Once you establish a steady cash flow from placed pets, you can explore how to build ranger camps. Ranger camps operate at your plot and allow you to send automated rangers up the trail to gather eggs on your behalf, providing continuous egg deliveries while you focus on training stats.
